Calculate

The Calculate screen gives you a quick overview of how the system sees the best use of players. Each position is broken down by a minimum number of AB per side, numbers that are under your control. The same is true for pitchers. You control the minimum number of innings pitched by starters versus relievers. You define the average percentage of lefties that the team will encounter as well as how teams react to dominant right-handers, dominant reverse right-handers, left-handers and so on.  The options for controlling these can be found under the Options menu on the main page.

Calculate begins by using the strongest players first and works it's way down to the weakest.

Players Used
AB Remaining
IP Remaining

The number of players available to be used will affect the strength calculated by the system.  The system attempts to fill all the AB needed for each position and the needed number of IP.  Once these are satisfied, the algorithm ends.  If there are not enough players to fill the required AB and IP, you'll see those numbers displayed in "AB Remaining" and "IP Remaining".

Batting vsL
Batting vsR
Overall Batting
These numbers reflect the ball club's ability to hit LHP, RHP and overall.  The larger the number, the stronger the team is is the given category.  Overall Batting is affected by the percentage of left-handed versus right-handed pitchers faced, which is a percentage controlled by you in the Options section.

Pitching vsL
Pitching vsR
Overall Pitching

These numbers reflect the ball club's pitching strength versus LH, RH and overall.  The smaller the number, the stronger the team is is the given category.  Overall Pitching is affected by the percentage of left-handed versus right-handed batters faced, which are percentages controlled by you in the Options section.

Overall Strength Score:  This is the Overall Batting score less the Overall Pitching score.  The overall strength number is not affected by non-zero remaining IP or non-zero remaining AB.
